Plans & models

Syntic Code runs on your Syntic account. Your plan decides which models you can pick and how much you can use them.

Which plans work

Syntic Code needs a paid Syntic plan. When you sign in, the CLI asks the platform for your plan and shows its name in the welcome header (the Plan: line) and in /status. The name is exactly what your account page calls it.

Account stateWhat you see
Paid plan, activeEverything works.
Free accountSign-in and requests are refused with: “Your account is a free one. Please upgrade to use Syntic Code.” plus a link to billing.
Paid plan, payment failed (grace period)Work continues. Once per session you see a notice to update billing, with the time left before access stops.
Paid plan, billing inactiveRequests are refused with: “Your plan isn’t active. Please update your billing to use Syntic Code.”

These refusals are never retried automatically: a fresh token cannot change a plan. Fix the plan in the browser at app.syntic.ai/billing, then run your command again.

Plan names, prices and limits are shown on your account’s billing page. The CLI never changes a plan itself; every plan change happens in the browser.

Models

The list of models comes from the Syntic platform, so it can change without a CLI update. Run /model to see what your plan includes right now. Each row shows the model’s context window and, when a model needs a higher plan, the plan tier it needs.

Models the CLI knows about today:

ModelContext windowGood for
Syntic Code256K tokensThe default. Everyday coding, with extended reasoning.
Syntic Code Fast256K tokensQuicker, cheaper replies. Used by fast mode.
Amara Deep256K tokensOffered on some plans.
Amara S21M tokensVery large repositories. Offered on some plans.

Which plan unlocks each model can change on the platform side, so the CLI does not hard-code it. /model always shows the plan a model needs next to its name.

Switch model

HowLasts
/model (or Alt+P), pick a row, EnterSaved as your default
/model, pick a row, sThis session only
/model Syntic Code FastSaved as your default
/fast (or Alt+O)Fast mode on or off, until you switch again
syntic --model "Syntic Code Fast"This run
"model" in a settings file, or SYNTIC_MODELEvery session that reads it

If you pick a model your plan does not include, one of two things happens: the request is refused with the plan it needs and the models you can use, or the platform answers with a model you do have and the CLI tells you the reply came from another model.

More detail, including reasoning effort and fallback models, is on Models.

Watching your usage

CommandShows
/costThis session’s running cost.
/usagePlan limits, cost, trends and plugin usage, in tabs.
/statsToken counts and spend by model.
/rate-limit-optionsWhere each plan limit stands, when it resets, and what you can do next.
/usage-creditsYour organization’s usage-credit balance and whether credits are on.
/upgradeYour plan’s usage and a link to the billing page.

Costs shown in the CLI are estimates at list price. Usage covered by your plan is not billed again. See Usage & billing if something looks wrong.
